Adobe Illustrator Training - Class 5 - All About Strokes Urdu / Hindi | Graphics Design

So what'll happen in today's class? All about Strokes! All the details I'll give about Strokes, I hope you'll understand a lot about it. And... You'll find it a bit different, as we won't be making anything special today, maybe just a few. But you'll learn how to use Strokes greatly. Okay? So let's see, here I created a file beforehand. You can see some boxes here, rectangles actually.

Or squares. one thing I want to tell you is that And let me tell you, these all have the same path. But because of the different properties of strokes, these are looking different from each other. So at first, this one has both Fill and Stroke, which generally as you notice, if we take both of them, it looks like this. and if I select, here the Fill and Stroke both are visible to us. And you can change both by double-clicking here anytime, I already taught in previous classes, okay? If I come here and want to turn off its stroke then simply select this stroke, which must be at the top position, and click None from here. Then stroke will be removed. Similarly if to remove Fill then I'll select it and click None, then that will be removed. Okay, come to the next. This is Fill-only. Which doesn't have any stroke and this symbol indicates that it's turned off. Understand? Next, we have Stroke-only, if you select this, it'll show here it doesn't have any Fill which is clearly visible here too. Okay, one interesting thing is that for those paths which have Filled, you can easily select and drag them to move. Like so, this Fill-only I can move easily too, but this Stroke-only, if I try to move like this it won't be moving. Why? Because there's nothing to grab, no Fill here. To move it, you have to directly click on Stroke and drag it, then it'll move. Okay? Alright! Next, you got Stroke alignment. Here the stroke is aligned to the centre. Okay, where can you see this property? Notice up here, if you click on this option named "Stroke", a panel will appear. You'll find this same panel located here too, or you go to Window and click "Stroke" from here. Let me scroll down a bit, here it goes. As I click it'll appear from this exact place. You pull and keep it separate so we can see directly from here. Let me close it. Okay? Okay one thing you notice, when selecting this, is weight. Isn't it? 8 points of weight. But, you'll see more details here (upward panel), the current one has lesser. No tension, here's a flyout button, click on it and from there, click "Show options". The exact same panel will be visible to you as the upward one. Understand? Now if you notice here, as I select this, notice at the bottom- "Align Stroke" here a button is pressed- "Align Stroke to Centre". Okay? If I select this, then here "Align Stroke to Inside" is applied. And if I select this, here it's "Align Stroke to Outside". Interestingly, these three paths seem to have different sizes. This one looks smaller, this looks larger and that looks larger. Why? Because their strokes are aligned in different styles. Right? So keep in mind that the size of your shape will appear different if your stroke is aligned differently. These three alignments have differences. Third thing, when to use them? As we progress further you'll find it out. For now, one more interesting thing is when I select and increase its weight, then notice the size will increase from both inside and outside. And if I select this and give its weight the same 18 points, then it'll increase from inside only, as it's aligned from inside. Okay? And when I select this and increase the Stroke (weight), like 18 points, it'll appear larger because it's aligned from outside. Okay? Alright, now coming below, here it's about Join or corners. How it'll look like. This is Miter Join. By default, it's applied to your shape. Beside it, is the Round Join. See here, this one. The only difference is that any corners will be rounded. It looks better in many places because of its smooth corners. In many places, it (Miter Join) looks better too. The third is Bevel Join. It looks like this, cut from the edge. Keep in mind that these 3 are the same strokes. The only difference is which type of join we have selected. See if I select all 3 together Nothing is turned on here because all are different from each other. So if I select one then it will show pressed here and so on. Okay? Next, you get Dashed Line, you can change any stroke into this by marking a check here. See as I remove check from here, the dashes vanished. If I turn it on, this dash will appear again. How much gap is needed? You can put values from here for example say if I want 4 points, then it will show dashes of 4 points. Gap, by default, will come depending upon the value you gave it. But if you want different then you can put more value. Suppose I need 2 points of gaps here, and next dash I need 2 points and again 2 points of gaps. Then see, it becomes dot-dash-dot-dash, an interesting line is made. So you can convert any path like this. This thing, known as Dotted Line. One thing to remember, here your weight must be equal to the points you put. So for example, if I make its weight 1 point then it won't look like a dot, but a dash. Why? Because my dash is 2 points and the weight is 1 point, so I'll put exactly 1 point dash, then it'll look like a dotted one. Okay? So you can convert any path like this. Next, you have open paths and their endpoints or cap. Right? What is the cap? The place where your line closes, the type of visuals appearing. Here the Butt Cap is turned on. This one has Round Cap And the third one has Projecting Cap. What is Projecting Cap? It's the same as the previous, this one. The only difference is that the stroke will end just forward to the closing path. Remember that these three again have the same sizes, but only for the caps, all are looking different. Lastly, here some arrows are given. How to add them? Simply here's the Arrow Heads option is given. One for starting and the other for ending. Right? See this one has both start and end. How'll you use it? Suppose I create some paths. Let's make it with the Pen tool, right? Here's one I make. And [clearing throat] Selecting it; see I started from here, so that point is here, I want this on my starting point. Okay? And in the end, I want this arrow. Then it gives me arrows easily. Yes if you want the arrows a little bit smaller, then you can lessen their values from here. So I'm putting 50% value, and in here I put 50% value too. [coughing] Right? So this goes all your Path settings. One tiny thing to notice, in this arrow, is now the place where your path is ending; let me select with Direct Selection; see where it ends, is the same place your arrow is also ending. If you want to push it a bit forward, Then you can press this button. And now look, your arrow is pushed forward. I know, it's looking kinda weird, let me pick this one. orrrrrrrrrr... this is better too. Anyways. But keep in mind, your arrow ends where the path ends With this button, okay? If you want to end your arrow beforehand, meaning this on the end of the path, and this one beyond the end of the path. So ahh... See this, I take the solid arrow, now it will show protruding outside. Okay? I hope all is clear till here, These are quite small things, nothing too serious. These are only so that when you create anything you get aware of what options are available here. The next thing is... Here are some line segments which you already know, I don't wanna rattle with it now. We go directly into this Brush, the paintbrush. Remember the paintbrush is also a stroke. A bit different, but we'll see in detail when we make custom brushes. Ahh... I'm taking a new file and using it there to make you understand. See, The special thing about this brush is that it's quite thick. Simply take your brush and drag while clicking, you can make your drawings very easily Inside this Brush, there are given Blob Brush but before that, I want to share more about the paintbrush. Number 1, see whenever you're drawing anything with it, remember that when you need to change the colour you have to change the Stroke's colour. It's not a Fill but a Stroke. So change the colour of Stroke, and it'll change your brush's colour too. If you already selected any colour before, Then yes, it'll show up as the Brush's colour too, later you can change the colour. So for example I select green. Now when I'm drawing, it's showing me green strokes. Now... [clearing throat] One important thing, you have a panel for Brush. Get it? So if you open this- "Brushes", and notice it carefully, you have different brushes given by default. Don't worry, we'll see how to make our own custom brushes in detail. But not today, rather I'll just show how to use it. What are brushes and how to use them? One more thing, these brushes you see, you can apply it into any path. So for example even if I make any line with Pen tool, like so, And I want to apply this brush. Simply click on it and it's applied. Okay? As we are talking only about Strokes so let me show you the ways you can get it. One method- Inside the tool, there's another called Blob Brush I'm telling you about this to show you the differences. See paintbrush is your Stroke and Blob brush is Fill. See whatever I made (with Blob) is showing as Fill, no colour on the Stroke. Remember you can increase or decrease the brush size, Let me share the shortcut. You have square brackets near the P key, if I press the right square bracket, see this, my brush is increasing. So! And, well what'll we do and create with it, we shall see later. Now just learn how to use it. Like why, I mean what are the differences between our normal paintbrush and Blob brush? Remember that Blob brush always give you a Fill, which means you've made a shape with this. If I swap into Stroke, it'll look like this. Okay? Keep in mind that Blob brush is not a Stroke, but a Fill. Right? This will give you a shape. So paintbrush was our Stroke. Right? And if you take the default brush it'll be like this. Now why we are discussing all these matters? Because our next tool is the Pencil tool I'll tell you about the Shaper tool in a while, first let's see the Pencil tool. The pencil tool is the same as the Brush tool, Just the difference is, this gives a plane and thin line. And the second thing, it won't give a live result of the brush. So, if you want to see the brush live, then you have to use the Brush tool only. Okay? So the Pencil tool is just nothing but gives a free... I mean freehand strokes you can draw. Right? Inside this Pencil tool, there are some more tools provided, Smooth tool, Path Eraser tool. These two will be very helpful to you too. So ahh, suppose with Pencil I make like, some rough lines. Right? And, notice carefully, if you want to make it smooth, or sharp corners appear, like so, and you want to make it smooth, then you can grab the Smooth tool and smoothen it like this. Okay one more thing to keep in mind, this tool won't only work on Pencil, even if you make anything with Pen tool and quite roughly, like this, I'm doing more roughly. Okay? And I want this to be smooth. Take your Smooth tool and hover on it. And see this! It'll easily turn the path smooth. [mouse clicking] The more you click the more smooth it'll be. So as you hover on the whole path more, it's smoothening it more. Because many times we need this, whatever we are making, we need to smoothen it if gets too rough. It's very helpful, this Smooth tool. Lastly, we have Path Eraser, remember that it erases the path only. Okay? Path eraser means it will open the path. See these become different parts. So if we have a closed shape, suppose I made this square. And taking the Path Eraser tool, ahh... here I hover it. Okay? Okay remember one thing, my cursor was looking like this a while ago because by mistake the Caps Lock got turned on, if your Caps Lock is turned on Then all the brushes or even the cursor will look precise. For example even on Pencil tool, it won't look like a pencil rather you'll see this plus sign. Like this. Ahh... If I take Pen tool and the Caps Lock is on, then you'll see this cross sign. Don't panic about why your cursor changed like these, always check your Caps Lock if it's on or off. Just turn it off and your cursor will be normal again. Understand? Alright, so we were talking about Path Eraser its work is simply to erase paths only. And, notice these parts are separated. Okay? Alright, next you get... Shaper tool! This is a quite new tool, let me tell you. This has been added in Illustrator CC, newly. Quite interesting it is, you... If you want to make some shapes quickly, for example you need to make a triangle, then just do it on freehand, it'll give you a perfect triangle. If I want to make a rectangle, I did this, and it's done. I want to make a circle, I did this and it's done! So it's quite interesting, and ahh... it creates shapes for you very easily. It's used quite a bit. Sometimes when we want to make things speedily, and we don't wish to pick individual tools so Shaper tool helps us with that. And, if I keep the path open, then... it will say "I dunno what's this, I can't understand!" (😁) Thus this is only for shapes. Keep in mind, shapes are which have closed paths. Get it? So if I make like this oval, then it'll give you an oval shape. Quite smart and interesting, but it'll create only the basic shapes. Okay? Alright! Next, my favourite- Join tool! The job of this tool is suppose if we do tracing, it'll work there too. Ahh, let's see. I'm making a path with Pen tool. And... Look, I simply made this path. Okay? And, suppose I leave here. So it becomes an open path. Right? And it's... Sorry, I'm turning off its Fill. One more path I'm making, like this. And another path I make like this. Remember that these 3 paths are open. As I made, I pressed Ctrl so I can get Selection tool anytime and leave the path when clicking outside. Now these 3 are different curves. Here's one, here's two, Uh! (😣) and here's three. Right on? Now this... What's the job of Join tool? It'll join these overlapping paths. So if I select these two and simply hover over, It gets joined! Simply repeat it here and here too. Now see, interestingly it becomes a complete shape. And you didn't even need to do Average and Join. A simply corner appeared here. And if you wish you can turn it into curves too. I already taught you about this tool (Curvature), which's newly added in CC. You can create shapes very interestingly, many times the simple things... See I'm making some lines with Brush, right? And if select them, and do this with Join tool, see this, they get joined! It becomes a close shape. So interesting! Please use it and do experiments, you can make many interesting things with it, I hope. Alright! (😌) So these are some tools, which are related to Stroke. Right? And alongside, my heart really wants to add more tools, specially Eraser, Scissors and Knife! Ahhh... C'mon, let's see these things too. Actually I wanna move fast now as we're going too slow. So let's include these tools too. See, just a while ago you've seen Path Eraser tool. Right? So this is a simple line and you can remove it with Eraser. Of course you can, no problem. Right? If you have any closed shape you can use it here too for erasing, But! See what happens. As I erase, it'll close the path while erasing. See? So if you hover the Eraser over, for example like this or like this, this will erase surely but now it becomes separate parts! But keep in mind, it'll give you another shape with closed paths. Understand? I'm putting in default colours so selecting gets easy. Rather I make another shape. I make a circle and erase it like this and that. Ah! See this, it becomes quite amazing! You can erase and make individual shapes with it. And you're doing it freehanded. So as I was talking, about Path Eraser and... the normal Eraser, what's the difference between them? Look I'm taking Path Eraser tool, and erase this part. Notice it will remain open. Get it? Meanwhile if taking this (normal Eraser) and erase, It'll give you closed shape. So that's a noticeable difference between them. Sometimes we just need to erase paths to open up shapes. Now why we want that? Suppose I made this circle and need to keep it open. And... I wanna add arrows! Just a while ago we've seen about arrows on Strokes. Simply put your arrows from here And, it's done! But I can't do the same here. Why? 'Cause this path isn't open; yes however, what you can do- you can select all the points via Direct Selection, see there are so many, I select while pressing Shift and then delete. Now this path is open too. That one was better though, it's done easily. Okay? So I've shown you the difference between Path Eraser and normal Eraser. Though it's for erasing shapes, but remember even then it closes the path while erasing. Now, next is Scissors. Scissors, again, is only for path. It won't give you any shape by cutting like this, as you click and drag, it will always show error. Please use your Scissors tool on a segment! Or on an anchor point, but not an endpoint of a path. It won't work on any endpoint but from the middle. So suppose if I click here, only here, then it puts out a separate path. Move it a bit. Here's the portion. Okay? I select this again, take Scissors tool and click here, notice that the arrows are coming because we have put the feature on the path, if you wish to remove, come over here and remove. Simply go above and click "None". Get it? Same here, repeat it. Okay? So the Eraser... sorry, I mean the arrows will get removed. So I hope you've understood the Scissors too. Last, you get Knife tool. Knife tool is quite amazing, absolutely similar to Eraser. See I want to tell you some differences between these two tools. [clearing throat] Let me put it aside. This too as I don't need this now. So we get some spaces here. Now, if you erase it by Eraser like this, it gives two shapes. But a gap comes in between, the same size as my Eraser... One more thing, you can change the size of Eraser same as in Blob Brush. Square Brackets, the same shortcut. Here I'm increasing the size. And by pressing left square bracket, it gets decreased. Alright? Ahh... If I take Knife tool from here, then what's its job? It will cut too. Basically it's not erasing, just cutting. And it'll also give you shape while enclosing. So if I deselect, see this is a different shape and this is another one. But! Both are sitting together. Right? And, quite an interesting tool. Many times when we need to remove some shape from anything; for example I cut like this, And see I'm gonna give a different Fill... Sorry. Selecting this, I'm giving a different Fill. [traffic noises] And selecting other one, I give another Fill. [traffic noises] So this becomes a much interesting thing. If you wish, cut more portions in here. No issues. And one more interesting thing, even if you don't select, it'll still cut. So, whatever shape you want, you can put different colour too. Okay dear? And you can also turn its Stroke... Into None, so it looks more interesting. So I hope you all have understood all these things related to path or Stroke. Plus I've taught you about the Erasers and etc. Sooooo... I hope you'll practice it, and acknowledge it more. I'll bring the next class very quickly, Inshallah. And in next class we'll learn about Rotate tool! We will make more interesting things with it! Yes! Please don't miss it, okay? So if you haven't... The same old worn-out dialogue of mine, if you haven't subscribed yet, please do it dude! (😀) And tell your friends... Bro why everything got so slow?! At the beginning so many people visited, Lots of subscribers came, I became so happy. But where's everyone gone now?! Please bring more new friends dude! I know, till now only my students who know me- only they subscribed. Bro please- friends, cousins, whomever you know- bring them all here! Many people will get the chance to learn.
